Adobe Media Player is a desktop media player that allows users to manage and interact with their media content, and allows content publishers to define branding and advertising in and around their content. The Adobe Media Player will be one of the first Adobe AIR applications from Adobe Systems. It was announced at NAB show in Las Vegas and was released in April 2008. The software uses DRM and enforces advert viewing, when watching videos both online and offline. According to the Adobe Website: "Effective June 18, 2009, Adobe Media Player software no longer contains third-party content in the default catalog. As part of Adobe's initiative to focus on and streamline business priorities, the decision was made to refocus efforts away from content aggregation." The catalog now contains Adobe tutorial videos and no other content. Flash video content can be added to the application if it is stored on your computer. From Wikipedia under the

This was your mistake, trashing the folders, but, it's not uncommon for new OS X Users, and recent 'Windows Switchers'. Simply re-install Photoshop. Then, just go to your Applications Folder, and drag ONLY the "photoshop.app" file to the trash, and OS X will automatically un-install all related PhotoShop folders and files.
