What is the alternative to elephant culling?
Q. I know that elephant culling is mean, but what is the alternative? Please tell me the alternatives, not that 'they are no alternatives'.

A. Actually it is an alternative, it's called human culling. That means, if you reduce the human population you reduce the human impact on animal populations and there is more room for the animals.

Can anyone tell me the difference between Alternative and Popular Music?
Q. The problem is that whenever an alternative music becomes popular, then it's not alternative anymore, is it? Or does it remain the as alternative but with different popular genre? Now I AM confuse. Then how about explain to me the whole thing or throw me some links. Thanks. I need this for something so important.

A. If an alternative song becomes popular, it stays in the Alternative genre. "Popular" isn't really a genre, but a lot of people consider it to be one just because it's easier to generalize all (or most) of the current radio hits as such. For instance, when The Script started playing, they considered themselved to be in the Alternative genre. Their most popular song, Breakeven, plays on the radio a lot now, but that doesn't mean the STYLE of music is totally different now. It's all about the music's style, not necessarily about radio play. I hope I helped a little bit. :D

What is the cleanest alternative fuel that has been discovered ?
Q. I know each alternative fuel comes with a price (as does everything). The extracting of hydrogen is supposedly not environmentally friendly, this being one of the prices of its implementation. I am not an expert on the subject though. Does anyone know what the cleanest alternative fuel available or that has been found is ? I also am wondering what some of the pros and cons of some of the others are. I suppose cleanest could mean one that is the most environmentally and economically friendly source available so far.

A. A hundred years ago it was electricity. In the early 1900's Henry Fords wife drove only Electric automobiles, she owned three I think...right through the thirties (what does that tell you) Check out this site for the early development of the electric car If we had not abandoned electric for the more readily obtainable gasoline in the early 1900's, and had we devoted the same amount or reach and development and with the always newer technologies through the years, I doubt we would ever have questions such as these

What's the difference between Conventional, Conventional Alternatives, and Non-conventional energy alternative?
Q. I'm doing some research and have trouble distinguishing the difference between these three types of energy sources. So far, I have Conventional energy widely used/practical energy sources like oil, gas and coal. My assumption is that they're the primary 'standard' energy sources the world currently uses for their electricity and power since the industrial revolution. I'm having trouble with the next two energy sources.. Conventional Alternatives, I put that at energy sources that produce less environmental waste and could be used to replace conventional energy sources. An example would be biofuels being used to replace oil/gas for cars. I guess Nuclear power could go under this energy source as it could be used to replace coal in… [cont.]

A. Hey Fud, you have a bit of a mess there with definitions. Let me try to explain some of it. The term, "Conventional Energy," is basically what you have written already. In most cases, it refers to fossil fuel based energies. You have to be careful with this, I'll explain. Alternative Energy is any energy source that is used to replace a conventional energy source in order to offset the negative side effects of the conventional source. A simple example of this is switching from coal heat in an older home to natural gas. It is less polluting, more efficient, and costs less. Another example, however, was when coal became an alternative energy source for wood in industrial applications in the last century. So in a way, coal could fit… [cont.]

A. Alternative energy is a term that refers to methods of generating energy that are not the usual method (i.e. fossil fuels). There are many forms of alternative energy, but, as energy is conserved, you have to ask yourself where the energy comes from (and the answer is always "the sun"). You should always be careful when you look at energy forms, because some of them just won't work - like the idea of putting water in your gas tank that another user has suggested (thermodynamics shows that these ideas won't work). The sun undergoes nuclear reactions which result in the release of photons (beams of light that have energy associated with them). Alternative energy forms just capture the energy from the sun in different ways (actually,… [cont.]

What is an alternative method of conducting the Loftus and Palmer (eyewitness testimony) experiment?
Q. This is for AS Psychology. Core Studies. Methodology, section B. Since the Loftus and Palmer eyewitness testimony study is an experiment that uses films of staged car crashes and two sets of questionnaires, I was wondering what another way of doing this study would be and what effects this alternative approach would have on the study. I am unsure how to make the study into a case study or an observation, and the details of such. Thank you!
Asked by Synaesthesia - Tue May 13 02:56:31 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The key to this study was the changed perception of the film because of the wording of the questionnaires. like using the word hit, bashed and bumped. You need to find a way to put this into an observation, perhaps by getting two or 3 small groups and asking them outright questions: E.g. do you feel the red car was going fast when it bumped/hit/bashed the other car Then allow them to discuss and take notes It would change from a lab experement because people could drift off subject but it might reduce demand characteristics as people are likely to become less bored with a discussion than a questionnaire. This increases ecological validity. However you could also mention there would be a problem still with the real life aspect of the study.… [cont.]

What is the alternative mechanism that might accomplish the presence of carbon recycling on earth?
Q. Please, help me with the Physical science class question. Here's the full question, if mine sounds complicated. The presence of carbon recycling on Earth (as a buffer against a faint early Sun and excessive temperature later) might strike some as a "just right" scenario. A. Not sure about the question but as most life on earth is referred to as "carbon based", I can say that the decomposition of carbon, the absorption of carbon by plant life and its journey through the life cycle, and the dissolving of excess carbon in the oceans all have seem to have a stabilizing effect but this is just an observation of chemical interactions that could be thrown into chaos by a number of factors and may not be stabilizing at all but simply evidence that we have reached a measurable equilibrium. Carbon is so common that it is hard to imagine another mechanism based on the same percentages of the same elements that seem to be common in the universe, but varying temperatures and light have a way or revealing other… [cont.]

If you have your own website with good contents, FIRST, you can sign up for affiliate memberships. What is an alternative to coaster brakes on a bicycle?
Q. I am in an engineering modeling and design class. Currently we are working with coaster brakes. I have already made one alternative to the clutch which would incorporate slanted teeth so that it may spin in one direction but lock up in the other direction. Any ideas to another clutch design? Well that would work but I have to change the clutch, my partners each have different parts of the coaster brakes.

A. Well, the obvious alternative is the one that millions of bikes use, which is rim brakes - which have an enormous leverage advantage over hub brakes and place much less strain on the spokes and structure of the wheel. But you probably knew that.

A. I think I have faced the same problem with PayPal. I have lost $200 which I had to leave in my PayPal account. As I am from a non PayPal country I had been looking for a service provider as PayPal and got the right one. I use money bookers for all of my internet payments and it supports over 190 countries around the world and not as much complicated as PayPal. Please don't try PayPal if you are not from PayPal allowed countries. Try money bookers bye PayPal... Try Now --> https://www.moneybookers. com/app/?rid=16412680

Q. My Paypal account was accessed by a third party recently and I nearly lost a lot of money. What is the safest alternative to Paypal when buying and selling online?. I cannot get a credit card, so that option is out.
