What are some Ancient and historic sites in Latin America?
Q. The only places that are ever shown are Machu Picchu (Peru) and Chichen Itza (Mexico). Aside from these places, what others exist in Latin America? What are some of the historic sites that impressed you the most?

A. All the ones mentioned are really touristed out. Try something cool and not overrun. Ciudad Perdida in Colombia is very nice (ONLY go by helicopter) And San Augustin. The ruins are VERY well preserved and you wont be running into a lot of tourists or a bunch of yahoos selling stuff (Like at the base of Macchu Picchu or at the Pyramids at Mexico City) Choose the less worn path. Always cooler stuff to see.

How was Latin America both created and destroyed from 1492 to 1810?
Q. How was Latin America both created and destroyed from 1492 to 1810? What, from your perspective, are the three most important legacies of conquest and colonialism that still shape the region today?

A. Latin America was destroyed in this period because the majority of the native peoples were eradicated by disease and murder. It was created by the importation of slaves and mixing of Spanish blood to create the people who now inhabit Latin America. The first of the three legacies are religion- extremely important to the region and brought by the Spnaish. The next would be the Spanish language. The final would be the introduction of "civilization" to the region.
