The genus Lilium are herbaceous flowering plants growing from bulbs. Most species are native to the temperate northern hemisphere. They comprise a genus of about 110 species in the lily family (Liliaceae). They are important as large showy flowering garden plants. Additionally, they are important culturally and in literature in much of the world. Some species are sometimes grown or harvested for the edible bulbs. The species in this genus are the true lilies. Many other plants exist with "lily" in the common English name, some of which are quite unrelated to the true lilies. RangeThe range of lilies in the Old World extends across much of Europe, across most of Asia to Japan, south to the Nilgiri mountains in India, and to the Philippines. In the New World they extend from southern Canada through much of the United States. They are commonly adapted to either woodland habitats, often montane, or sometimes to grassland habitats. A few can survive in marshland and epiphytes are known in southeast Asia (including L. arboricola). In general they prefer moderately acidic or lime-free soils. From Wikipedia under the

I've never made hot and sour soup before, but I love it! It looks so complicated. And I don't think that they sell lily buds in Cyprus. My lilies are in bloom as well and mine are shaded by the tree and they are planted in the ground and they are beautiful and the best thing about them being a bulb will grow every year Answered by b.johne k - Mon Mar 31 15:49:45 2008 How do I care further for my indoor calla lily?
Q. I have an indoor calla lily at my office and it has grown to about 1 1/2 feet tall. In the last week it has started to droop and the bloom is almost entirely green like the stalk. What is the next step I should take to prolong the existance of my plant? I am not much of a green thumb but would like to know how to make this one work, as it is the only pleasure I get from work. None of the plant looks unhealthy; it just lays down to the side. (like it's taking a nap) :) Asked by ady_8e_80 - Thu Aug 10 09:48:21 2006 - - 1 Answers - 1 Comments A. Callas are bulbs. Your indoor calla looks like my outdoor callas right now, which is good. It's blooming period is over. It needs to stay near a window so that the greens can continue to store energy from the sun. Eventually the greens will turn yellow, then brown. When they start turning brown, you can cut the calla completely to the surface of the dirt. It cannot stay in your office at that point. All bulbs need a cooling period of 10-14 weeks during the late fall and winter. Put the container in your garage if you live in a very cold place (gets below 30 degrees during the winter) but wherever you put it it must have a steady temperature below 50 degrees. Keep it and the soil dry - humidity during the winter is bad, and can… [cont.] Answered by teresa c - Thu Aug 10 10:23:28 2006 From Yahoo Answer Search: "lily" Gaga On Film - Vogue.com
